Hone Prepares to Launch Canada’s First Mobile Hydrogen Power Generator
Hone is proud to announce a major milestone in our journey toward clean, mobile energy: our new hydrogen power generator is currently undergoing final fitting and preparation for start-up in January 2025.
These photos, captured in November, document a key moment in the build process—the integration of the DEUTZ AG hydrogen combustion engine into the full generator assembly. This cutting-edge engine was manufactured in Cologne, Germany, and the full integration is being carried out by our partners at Sommers Generator Systems in Stratford, Ontario.
Once commissioning is complete, Hone will be ready to launch its mobile hydrogen power service for customers in the Greater Toronto Area. To our knowledge, this will be the first time in Canada that a pure hydrogen-fuelled combustion engine is being deployed for portable power. It’s a critical step toward decarbonizing temporary and mobile power generation—industries like construction, events, emergency backup, and more.
We’re excited to introduce this service to the market and continue supporting Ontario’s clean energy ambitions.
