Pickering Demonstration: Hydrogen Power on a Hollywood Studio Set

On Monday, July 6, Hone brought its trailer-mounted hydrogen generator and fuel delivery system to a production site in Pickering, Ontario, powering a Hollywood Studio shoot for a full day of operation. Over the course of the demonstration, the generator consumed roughly 52 kg of green hydrogen and produced zero CO2 emissions. The equivalent diesel load for that same output would have burned approximately 187 litres of fuel and released 572 kg of CO2 into the air on set.

That's the trade crews are used to making without realizing it. Every hour a diesel genset runs on a production, it's putting exhaust into the same air as the cast and crew standing next to it. Hone's generator runs the same job with none of that. Same power delivered to basecamp, same reliability the day requires, without the fumes.

This demonstration builds on Hone's growing track record of on-set deployments across Ontario, including work on Netflix and Disney productions earlier this year. Each one adds real operating data under real production conditions, not lab conditions: different weather, different crews, different power demands from lighting rigs, catering, and trailers.

Hone's green hydrogen for this demonstration was supplied by Charbone, and the team was joined on site by partners and collaborators supporting the day's operation.
